Lent 2006 ( second reflexion)

“...And we will walk through its paths” (Isaiah 2, 3 )

Building peace from an adult educator and the girl or teenager link, a relationship of
                             presence and company.

                                   To build peace

The Lord calls his disciples, there is an invitation and a dialogue. In a difficult moment Jesus asks them: Do you also want to leave?, and they answered: Who are we going with if you have the word of eternal life? This answer is the product of the trust that people have in Jesus. They know him, they know who he is, they know he is not going to defraud them. He has shown coherence between what he says and he does. He is always by their sides, he doesn’t leave them, he goes with them.

Jesus makes them participants, he compromises them, he motivates them to grow to be themselves , so that they can discover their gifts. That’s why when I look the educators / leaders, above all in these Lent times when we walk a path towards Easter, I ask: how many leaders feel and feel themselves close to the girls? How many girls and teenagers see coherence in their leaders? Because in this particular relationship we have to be real instruments in the Lord’s hands, so that each of the girls/ teenagers can start making their own ways, a way of reunion with themselves, of reconciliation with their people and the world. A way that implies a necessary reconciliation with God.

When walking this path we must build a link of real trust, this one will get stronger little by little through coherence between our words and our actions, through a sincere and consequent testimony. Because the world already represents double messages, to much relativism, because it seems to be that for some ones everything is the same, that nothings worths too much. We can feel safe because we are firm on this rock, a solid rock that is Jesus of Nazareth in the flesh, it is God become man, He comes to us so that we have life. He invites us to reconciliation and peace, deep peace with ourselves, with the world, even though violences shake our realities. Value is in being builders of peace, and humbly say: “Lord: who are we going to?” if it isn’t you…

Lord, we wish real trust to be the base where the relation between educators and girls / teenagers is built. Our leaders to be authentic and coherent. We wish those things that are said, proclaimed, demanded and proposed by them to be lived deeply by them. So that the girl/ teenagers know that the values exist indeed, that it is worth compromising with them. That it is possible to be builders of the Kingdom in everyday life.

I would like to finish this reflection with a pray, a pray for all the ones that in one or another way walk through Your paths; to be able to live with coherence, to be able to show ourselves as we really are in our strengths and ours weaknesses; so that our life can be the clearest way of showing Your love and Your presence, so that when we find ourselves in the fractioning of bread, we proclaim the God that gives himself to everybody and goes on being Himself. That one who walks with us, That one we walk to, the always loyal Lord, the One who has the words of eternal life.
