International Catholic Conference of Guiding

Advent - 3rd week

In our journey to Bethlehem, in our way as disciples we realize that “we are living a change of age, whose deepest level is cultural (…) It emerges today, with a lot of strength, an overestimation of the individual subjectivity (…) Being worry about the common good is set aside to give way to the immediate fulfilment of the individuals’ wishes, to the creation of new and, many times, arbitrary individual rights, to the sexual problems, to the family, to the diseases, and to death.” (Aparecida 44) .

That’s why the Guiding Movement needs to, can and should, due to its original vocation, offer spaces where the personal vocation is developed in a community context. Because the Girl Guides as experts on the community (in the same way the Trinitarian Community is), are signs and testimony of this God who offers his friendship to grow up together in true solidarity.

This experience of community life removes us from individualism and places us in a group context of commitment to the personal and social life… so, the way is full of brothers and sisters who are looking for their Bethlehem.

Let’s walk as true disciples, may our life be the mission that God has given us.
