As Jesus Christ’s disciples we feel asked to distinguish the signs of the
times, under the light of the Holy Spirit, to be at the service of the
Kingdom, announced by Jesus, who came to us so that everybody will have life
and ‘to live it to the full’.
This request for distinguishing the signs is an important call for the girl
guides to be clear in their search and to have a deep sense of their being
and duty, as women, as a community within History.
Because the Advent we are living in makes us discover, on the way to the
crib, the shadows and lights that we have in the reality of our world.
Aparecida says in its 48 issue “In this time of Latin America and the
Caribbean it is urgent to become aware of the precarious situation which
affects many women’s dignity. Some of them, since they are girls and
adolescents they are subjugated to multiple forms of violence inside and
outside their homes: slave trade, rape, servitude and sexual harassment;
inequalities in the work, political and economic realms, publicity
exploitation by the mass media which treat them as a source of profit.”

Being experts on looking at this reality means to be experts on wanting to
transform it… and the Movement offers a place, a space, values to be able to
do it. It is there where the Reedemer gives himself to us, that’s why living
a deep faith implies walking on the transformation of the world.
