We start our journey
towards Christmas. Advent means going on an inner, personal and communal
journey, which will lead us to discover a baby in diapers, it will let us
meet a woman and her son, it will give us the possibility to see Mary and
the Redeemer.
Along the journey we will realize that there are a lot of signs which will
confuse us, signs which will disencourage us, signs which will stop us from
continuing. We will find them all along our journey, while walking along our
own life, we will face hanger, misery, wars and egotism. We will see how
nature is being destroyed, how peoples and cultures are destroyed, and when
reflecting upon these situations, the following question will come up
inevitably: Is it worth walking?... Is it worth continuing this journey?...
We will discover that it is worth it, that the Lord, who is faithful to his
promise, doesn’t disappoint us, that we have to have the courage to be able
to see this reality, to walk among shadows because a star has appeared in
the sky. A new sign has appeared and we have to decipher what it wants to
tell us. A sign which will lead us to a crib.
That’s why the girl guides have to be experts on discovering these signs,
they have to be experts on community, they have to be experts on service.
