Dear friends,

We are happy to announce the appointment of Reverend Father Carlos Gómez, from Argentina, Provincial Superior of the Merced Order and senior girl guide and scout chaplain as the World Chaplain during this triennium.

We´ve received this confirmation dated January 9th 2007, signed by S.E.R. Monsignor Leonardo Sandri, Deputy for the Vatican State Secretary.

Father Carlos started to cooperate with us last year through his reflections for Lent, Easter, Advent and Christmas, some of you met him in person in Warsaw during the 2006 World Meeting and World Council. We welcome him to the World Committee.

The Girl Guide Movement is for us, laywomen and laymen, and chaplains a priviliged way to discover and build the project which God dreams about for each men and women; we have to pay attention to the realities which prevent people from living with dignity, growing up and developing their own skills; we are called to proclaim and work for the culture of life, of what´s free and of fraternity. As believers, the girl guide community is invited to make history in the heart of History. During this mission as World Chaplain, as member of the World Committee and the World Council, he puts all his pastoral attention on the Girl Guide Movement becoming a place for an authentic revelation of Jesus Christ. Besides, he represents the Church, as an institution, in the heart of the girl guide experience.
