The search for better living conditions will be at the origin of this second wave of immigration as of following  which  will occur  after the first war. After the Spanish civil war and the 2e World war,  Argentina will accomodate  families of all Europe and  also of the Middle East .

Syrians, Libanais and Armenians will settle in the north of Argentina and the capital. The Germans of the Volga,  the  Poles,  the Hungarians, the Russians will populate the agricultural colonies of the littoral and the pampa. The Danes, Czechoslovakians, Czech, Germans, Swiss, Austrians for their part will settle in the area of the large lakes of the south. The Welsh will adopt the coasts of Patagonie and the Andes cordillera; Englishes, Patagonie and Earth of fire; Jews, large capitals and rural zones (Argentina has the third Hebraic community of the world)

The primary school ( public, free, secular  and  obligatory ) will give to  these "new Argentinians" a certain homogeneity  thanks to the  teaching of spanish language , of the history of the country,  its festivals,  its heroes  as  well  as training of citizenship.

The rapid rise to the middle class, thanks to education and the employment opportunities, will make of Argentina, during decades, a place where it is  good to live at  ease  and  in  peace.

The decade of the Seventies will bring another wave of immigrants coming this time from Asia,  Korea,  Laos and some  neighbors countries of  American latina  whose economies  will  lead the inhabitants to seek better horizons. The Chileans will settle mainly in Patagonie, the Uruguyans and the Paraguayans in Buenos Aires and on the littoral while  the  Bolivians  will  establish themselves in the north of the country.

The visit of the town of Buenos Aires will  enable  you to note through constructions,  streets,  faces and costumes how these successive waves of immigration gave to the city a character of kaleidoscope and how the shantytown shows off a particular style  very related to its population and  their habits.

During the 100 last years, three models of government gave form to what  is Argentina today  and, to some  extent, to its current crisis.

From the end of the XIXe  century until  the years 1930, an oligarchical  - liberal  government  will be  the era of  Argentina exporter of agricultural products , the attic of the world and,  consequently, one of the 7 richest countries.

Then came the state benefactor,  industrialist, who produces what is not imported, which knows a strong unionism and a high standard of living. A government mediator between the workers and the companies,  offering   full  employment,  education,  health services  and  social  laws for  all.

The post-social era...  brought the number of the poor  to 19,000,000, a contracting of the state, an important foreign  debt,  new social actors, small companies, the importance of the ONG and of local  movements .. .
