   1-

cz –  pronounce it as ‘ch’, like in cheese
ś   –  pronounce it as ‘sh
ć   –  this sounds a bit like ‘ch’, with the difference known only to a Polish ear

Now, say:    Cześć     (which means Hi).       You go: Cheshch.

Now check if you are correct here *.      son-wave/czesc.wav

     2 -

w  –  it’s easy, it is exactly the same as English ‘v
sz –  it’s ‘sh’ as in fresh

         Well done !

      3 -

ch  –  this is ‘kh’, like in Scottish ‘loch’
ł     –  looks like ‘l’, but you pronounce it as ‘w’, for example in ‘warm’
ę    –  this is a nasal sound ‘en’, sounding like some words in French

Ok, let’s try a name:  Lech Wałęsa. Should sound like: lekh va-wen-sa.
