History - part 1
Polish Guiding and Scouting started in 1910, thanks to Andrzej Małkowski (and later also his future wife, Olga Drahonowska), fascinated with B-P’s new approach to the youth. At that time, the territory of today’s Poland was divided between three European powers: Russia, Germany and Austria and so was the movement. The three parts, however, kept contact with each other. A new epoch for Polish Guiding and Scouting began when after the First World War Poland became independent again. Nationwide organisation – Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP) – was formally established. ZHP was a Founder Member of both WAGGGS and WOSM.
