Basic facts about Poland

You will find more or less everything in Poland: alpine mountains, wide beaches at the Baltic Sea, clean lakes, deep forests, world-class historic monuments and friendly people.

The climate is temperate, with temperatures reaching 25 degrees in summer and falling to as little as -10 degrees in winter. There are no earthquakes, hurricanes or volcano eruptions in Poland.

Our country has almost 40,000,000 inhabitants, most of whom are Poles. The only official language is Polish, which, along with Russian, Czech, Slovak and many others, belongs to the group of Slavonic languages.

Most Poles are Roman-Catholics, 90% are baptised within the Roman Catholic Church, about 40% go to the church regularly. There are considerable Orthodox and Greek Catholic minorities in the east of Poland
