The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association is very honoured and pleased to invite you to the 16th ICCG World Council and the ICCG World Gathering which will take place in Warsaw 15–24 of July 2006.
The Polish Scouting and Guiding Association (ZHP) is an organisation whose tradition goes 90 years back. Nowadays it is the biggest – nearly 150 000 members – guide and scout association in Poland. ZHP is an open association, which means that not only Catholics are its members and which makes us benefit from cultural diversity. We will be happy to share our ideas and methods of education of girls and boys with you.
For the first time the ICCG world meetings will be held in Warsaw, the capital of Poland, which will give you the opportunity to discover the rich history and traditions of the city. Many historic events, wars and ideologies swept trough Warsaw during 700 years of its existence, leaving traces on its culture and traditions and exerting a strong influence on its appearance. We will be pleased to show you how Warsaw changed throughout the centuries, especially during the last fifteen years, and on the other hand how it kept its past alive alongside historical changes – trough old churches, monuments and historical places. We invite you to the place whose past proves that building of culture of peace and making the world a better place are possible.
We will be happy to make your stay in Warsaw as comfortable as possible. Our venue will be the Pallotine Fathers Pastoral Centre in Konstancin, about 20 kilometres from the centre of Warsaw. The Centre will provide the atmosphere of spirituality, many comfortable rooms for work, reflection and prayer as well as a very interesting craft exposition from Pallotine Fathers’ missions all over the world.
We will organise cultural presentations, tours and meetings with Polish guides and scouts as well as a pilgrimage to the world-famous Sanctuary of Our Lady of Jasna Góra in Czestochowa.
We are looking forward to welcoming you to the ICCG World Council and the ICCG World Gathering in Warsaw in 2006.
