                  Brief History of Ireland

Historians date the first inhabitants in Ireland as far back as 8000BC
when hunter gathers from Britain and Europe arrived. About 4000 years
later, more inhabitants arrived, particularly from Southern Europe and
turned the mid Stone Age culture into a high Neolithic one.
This period is marked by their famous construction of the Newgrange passage tomb,
which is older than Stonehenge.
