To the delegations participating at the
                                                                                                    World Gathering and Council Meeting

Paris,  the 4th of June 2003

Dear Friends,

Our World gathering will take place in two months and we will be very happy to welcome the leaders that you have designated to  participate at such an important meeting.

The Girl Guide association of the Argentina is doing a very great job both preparing the gathering on the venue and making associations aware of its importance.

                                                                                                The venue

After some unexpected hiccups (the site we originally reserved had been assigned to someone else) the Argentinean team has booked another venue, situated 20 Km outside Buenos Aires. The address is as follows:

                                          CASA DE RETIROS MONSEÑOR AGUIRRE

                                          Santa Rosa 2341

                                         1664 VICTORIA

                                          Telephone: 4745 0118//4580//0450

Victoria is the name of an area of San Isidro a locality situated at 20 Km north of Buenos Aires along the coast of the Rio de la Plata.

Participants will have to bring their own sheets and towels. These can, however, be hired from the Sisters for a supplement of 2 US$.

Dates:

Due to the change of venue, there has also been a slight change in the dates: we will not have a free day between the World Gathering and the Council meeting.

                             - World Gathering: 20-26th July

                             - Council Meeting: 27t-29th July

We must leave the house in the morning of the 30th July.

We ask you to communicate if possible by e-mail, which is quicker and cheaper.

                                 Finances

We have received only to-day confirmation of a grant from CCFD and the Pie XII Foundation
(although we have not actually received the cash yet).
Taking into account the provisional budget, ICCG can commit itself to give a grant of 1500US$ to each association that has registered so far, that is to say, 12 associations from Africa and Central and Eastern Europe. No South American Country has registered so far, besides Argentina. Please note that there will be one grant for each Association and not each delegate.

Because of the expense of banking charges, the grants will be paid on the venue, except for emergency cases. We are open to discussion with associations who have not yet registered and ask them to get in touch immediately with Marie-Thérèse Marchand, executive secretary, who also follows closely our financial matters:

                       e-mail: gdfmarchand@wanadoo.fr

Application for membership to ICCG :

We remind you that there are two conditions for ICCG membership: be a member of WAGGGS and have a letter of support from the religious authority of the country in question. Application for membership has to be done by letter, signed by the President or the General Commissioner of the association, to which the letter of the religious authority has to be joined.

The application has then to be submitted to the next World council meeting. Applications can be sent to the World executive or brought along to the Council meeting in Argentina.

                               Candidatures

So far we have received the following official candidatures:

        - Position of World Executive: Silvia Staib de Chanes of the Girl Guide Association of Argentina,
backed by the Guides de France.

  - Position of Latin American Executive: Silvia Campisi de Cassanelle, Girl Guide Association of Argentina

  - Position of Africa Executive: Brigitte Aguiar from the association of Girl Guides of Benin,

Inscriptions

Up to now, not counting the World Committee and the Argentinean team, we only have 56 inscriptions, amongst them some which have not yet been confirmed. Therefore, we ask each association to get mobilized for this important World Gathering and

we request particularly the Associations of Latin America to do so, since no inscription at all has been received from any of them.

Please find enclosed

     - the programme of the Gathering, a travel form, the  Agenda of the Council  Meeting and the report from Togo (Note from the webmaster: you will find these documents in the section of the Meeting ).

Given the delays due to translation, it is likely that the Financial and Activity Report will be handed to you personally in Buenos Aires. We will put them on line as soon as possible.

This is our last letter to associations before the Gathering. Thank you for sending in the last inscriptions as soon as possible. Do think of getting a visa. We hope you have all made your air-plane reservations as we had suggested some months ago.

With all our friendship and looking forward to meeting your delegates in Buenos Aires.
