To all member and corresponding

Members of ICCG

Paris, July 8th, 2002

Dear Friends,

We have waited until the end of the World Conference in the Philippines before
 giving you further news.

As you know the World Team has been at Easter in the Argentine in order to prepare
the next
ICCG World gathering, which will take place in July 2OO3..

The Guides of Argentina are full of enthusiasm and are hoping that many of us will
attend the gathering in spite of the difficulties Argentina is going through.

Theme of the gathering

 Ecoutons !
 La voix des adolescentes
C'est la voie de la CICG

 Escuchemos !
 La voz de las niñas
Es el camino de la CICG

Listen !
 The voice of the girls
Is the path of the ICCG

 Book the dates now!

     19-30 July 2003

  •  Arrival of participants :  19th July – Starting on July  in the evening.

  • World Gathering :        From the 20th July to the 25th July in the evening

  • Departure of participants not staying for the Council meeting:  26th July

  • World Council meeting: from the 27th July to the 29th of July in the evening.

  • Departure of participants:  30th July

Please note as of now, that participants to the World Council Meeting should
necessarily
participate in the World Gathering as well.    The orientations to be
voted at the Council meeting will have to be inspired by the dynamics of the World Gathering.

The Girl Guides of the Argentine will propose different formulas for staying on after the
 Council meeting.

  Timetable:

September 2002:  Our letter No. 6 will be sent out next September and will give
you more information about the theme so that associations can prepare themselves
throughout the  year.  Practical information on the costs of the World Gathering and
Council Meeting will also be given in this letter.

November 2002:  The object of letter No. 7 will be institutional papers to be sent
out before meetings.

April 2003:  Letter No. 8 will contain the financial and activities reports, the agenda
of the Council meeting and last minute practical information.

  Costs:

At present we are working on a budget with the help of the Girl Guides of the Argentina.

As usual we’ll try to keep cost to the lowest possible.  Our accommodation will certainly
 not
be a luxury hotel, but our host are doing theirutmost to see that our accommodation be
warm,
friendly and welcoming.

We must tell you as from now, that our own resources and the possible sources of financing
are looking very poorly.  Therefore we are not able to tell you at this point whether we will be
able to offer travel grants.  It is all the more important for associations to start right now to
collect funds for their travel and accommodation costs at national level, approach NGO’s
 and
other organisations who might be able to help them and start saving to cover the costs.

WAGGGS/ICCG

 World Conference in the Philippines

Françoise Parmentier participated at the World Conference of WAGGGS held last June.
ICCG was warmly welcomed and members of the World Council and the World Bureau
 did
their best to help organize an ICCG meeting, attended by 25 associations from all continents.
Even though this meeting was short, we were able to discuss the work in the regions and

launch the theme of our next World Gathering in the Argentine in the year .

ICCG/ICCS:

The ICCS held its World Council Meeting in Thessalonika in Greece beginning of July.
We were not able to attend due to our financial difficulties, but we sent a message
of solidarity to Enrique Lopez, Secretary General, who finished his term at the Meeting
and to all the delegations present.

                                      The regions:

It is the task of  Regional executives to inform their  members of the associations or regional
plans and regional activities.  Our letter N° 6 will give you more precise details.

                                         Listen to the child

Please find enclosed Jean Debruynne’s mediation “Listen to the child”.  It makes us
turn towards the future and should give us the energy needed to transmit it to our teams.

Looking forward to contacting you again in September.

With all our friendship,

 Françoise Parmentier
World Executive
