Dear Friends,

Just a few lines following our new year’s letter. Thank you to all associations who sent their good
wishes, in answer to our " musical angels " conveying a gesture of peace.

 

Some news from the regions 

Middle East  : The regional team organized a training camp for leaders in Egypt. Its theme was
centered on the issue of women under the motto " You are a gift ", and 32 leaders took part in
 this event We will be sending you Jean Debruynne’s meditations concerning women in the old and
new testament.

Europe : The composition of the Regional Team is now finalized : 

• Elizabetta Brunnella from AGESCI is the Regional Executive, 
• Alessandro Saucci also from AGESCI, is the Regional Chaplain. 
• Renata Behan from the Catholic Guides of Ireland,
•  Suzana Vankéova, from the Czech Republic, 
• Veronique Wendling-Kirscher from the Guides de France.

T he Regional team will be preparing together with ICCS-Europe-Mediterranean, a camp for young
leaders to be held during the holy week of 2003 in Trento, Italy. This camp will be a camp
of " Living stones ".

Next meeting of the world team 

We do not have recent new neither from Latin America nor Africa. 
But as the World Team will be meeting in Buenos Aires 
from the 28^th March to the 5^th April 2002
  in order to prepare the World Gathering in 2003, we hope to be able to give you news from the
 Regions after this meeting.
The national Council of the Girl Guides of Argentina have been working very hard preparing this
gathering and we owe them a very special thanks in view of the extreemly difficult time their country
is undergoing.

We would like to mirror your wishes as to the contents of the gathering. 
So if you have suggestions please send them to

In the course of our world Team meeting, Elisabetta Brunnella and Jean Debruynne will give us a
report of the General Assembly of the Conference of International Catholic Organisations, held in
Bangkog, where they represented ICCG.

WAGGGS/ICCG 

Shortly after sending you our letter No. 3, the World Council of WAGGGS let us know through
Maria Eugenia Freile de Ponce that our document entitled 
                                           " Openig to all and religious identity "
 had been received very positively and that the issues raised where not on the agenda for the time
being.

Maria Eugenia will be attending our world team meeting in Buenos Aires.

Web – site  

Philippe Denoyelle who has been the Webmaster of ICCG’s site, wished to resign from this function,
so we explored other possibilities. Celine Gélinas, who had been our Executive Secretary is now our
new webmaster.

We would also like to thank Philippe Denoyelle, aswell as Brigitte Lauruol who helped him duing the
past two years.

Membership fees 

T his is the time of the year during which you must send in your membership fees. 
Regional executives will remind you of this, and so will Françoise Le Menestrel for the Europe Region. 
Please do remember that these fees are the main financial resource of ICCG.

 

World Conference in the Phillippines 

Françoise Parmentier will take part at WAGGGS ‘ World Conference in the Phillippines.
 It will be an opportunity to meet member associations of ICCG. 
A date will fixed for this and we will give you further details in our Letter No. 5.

 

World Youth Gathering 

The next World Youth Gathering will take place this summer in Toronto. We have asked Marie-Paule
 Banville, previous Secretary General of ICCG to represent us in the course of the last preparatory
meetings that took place in January. Many, many thanks for her help. As always, ICCG encourages
guides to take part in this gathering thorugh their parishes. Marie-Paule insists on the need of being
well prepared. Security meseures will be very severe.

Looking forward to hearing from you, please remember that at the very heart of Easter celebrations,
guides from all our associations will be present, as ICCG’s World Team will celebrate resurrection
in Buenos Aires.
