To all member and
corresponding
member
associations of ICCG
Paris, the 20th March 2001
Dear Friends,
Three month have already passed since
our last letter : it is high time to give you some news.
Meeting of the World Committee : It
met from the 20th to the 25th of January in Paris. Unfortunately
Maria Isabel Canadas was not able to attend due to the terrible
earthquacke in El Salvador. We assure the Girl Guides of El
Salvador of our moral support and all our thoughts are with them.
Marie Eugenia Freile del Ponce, member
of the World Council of WAGGGS and Liaison member for ICCG
participated at our meeting. Lesley Bulman, Director of the World
Bureau, shared also our work for a whole day and we finalised the
wording of the modus agendi together.

Meeting of Regional
Teams :
We have made progress with the elaboration of the programme of
this meeting that will be held in Bracciano, near Rome in an
AGESCI center from the 7th to the 14th of August 2001. The meeting
will be centered on a resolution voted in TOVE, Togo, which we
discussed at length during the Council Meeting, « religious
identity and opening to all ». The theme will be therefore :
LET US DARE A NEW
WAY OF COMMUNICATION !
OSONS UN LANGAGE
NOUVEAU !
VAMOS A ESTRENAR UN
LENGUAJE NUEVO !
In agreement with Maria Eugenia and
Lesley, one of the objectives of the meeting will be to draft a
statement destined to the World Council of WAGGGS that will be
meeting next October in London in vew of preparing the next World
Conference in the Philipppines.
In Togo we decided that each
association will study the issue of religious identity and openess,
and now we are requesting all associations to send us their
contribution to our joint reflexion. This was one of our decisions
and it must be carried out !

Regional activities :
- The African
associations are corresponding with each other through the
Regional Executive for Africa, Brigitte Aguilar.
-
- For the time being, the Europe
Regional Team consists of Elisabetta Brunnella,
Regional Executive, Barbara Stelmasinska from ZHP, Poland and
Veronique Kircher from the Guides de France. This is all the
information we have for the moment.
-
- The members of the Regional Team of
the Middle East met with Leila Antaki,
Regional Executive, in Alep from the 8th to the 15th March to
prepare the Regional Camp that will take place in the Lebanon
from the 4th to the 8th of July. The Camp’s theme will be :
« I am sending you out into the World ».
Unfortunately we do not have any news
yet form the Latin American Region.

Call for payment of
membership fees :
The Regional executives of Africa,
Latin America and the the Middle East, together with Françoise Le
Menestrel, will be asking for the payment of membership fees for
the year 2001. The payments are to be made before June 2001. The
membership fee amounts to 0,10 $US per member in Europe. For the
other countries it is 0,05 $US per member with a minimum payment
of 70$US per association. ICCG world level is to receive 40% of
the membership fees paid by Europe (motion voted in Togo). As for
the other countries, they will contribute 1/3 of their membership
fees to the costs of the World Level.
We draw your attntion to the need of
paying your membership fees in due time, as at the moment this
income is the unique source of revenue for ICCG’s current
activities.

The official texts :
We have revised the Constitution and Bye Laws taking into account
the amendments voted in Togo. Please find enclosed in all three
languages the following documents : the constitution, the bye laws
and the modus agendi. These are now the official texts ruling ICCG.
The minutes of the Council will be
sent to you later. We gave priority to listing the resolutions (you
received them in a previous letter) and to the up-dated official
texts.
Easter
is approaching :
To share with you the feast of the resurrection, Jean Debruyne is
enclosing a meditation « the approach of Easter ». It could be
an occasion for you to approach this great feast together, either
in national or regional teams by a spriritual meditation.
We are eager to hear from you. Share
with us your projects, your ideas. Do not allow the enthusiasm of
Togo to falter.
